As we approach Endgame, I thought I'd post something I've been keeping up on. Because I know I'm not the only one completely in love with and inured by the hotel the one in this game's based on.
Over the years I lived in Mineral Wells, I heard countless times rumor of people thinking of restoring the Baker. It happened so many times that none of the residents believed any of them anymore... though I think no one could deny the tingle of hope every time it went around yet again. The hotel was just too expensive-- even with the real estate slashed far below its true value, the amount you'd have to put into restoration was several times that.
But this time, it's apparently happening. People are turning to the government instead of private estate dealers, and looking into the options open now that weren't a decade ago in areas of "economic growth". And the thing of this is that, in the rough periods of the Interbellum and WWII eras, the original hotel was used for the exact same purposes. It's history repeating. It's happening, and they're filming a documentary as they do it.
